Really? I've only read the first volume of Yugioh, it's pretty funny to see how transparent Takahashi was in making up the rules to Yugioh. Certainly there's the famous I Attack the moon/Use turtle catapult on your castle but especially in the manga he makes up all these other weird games using a standard 52 card deck which makes it seem like Yugioh was just one of the many games he was trying to come up with.Le Redditeur wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 4:49 pmThey did this in the manga and believe me, it's not that much of an improvement.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 10:42 amYugioh went downhill after Battle City. Should have just gone straight into the Zorc/Pharaoh ending rather then wasting time with the really stupid Dragons.

Well, the manga was initially about all sorts of games. He - or his manager and/or publisher - just decided one day to stick with the most merchandise-friendly one.
(Season 5 was where he upgraded to main villain, right?)
It is an ancient law in animu, mango and video games that he who gets designated as the new main bad guy shall have his power level multiplied to be a formidable threat to the heroes.CuckTurdginson wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 7:13 pmI like how Bakura is a complete pushover for 95% of the series and then in Season 5 all of a sudden becomes unstoppable. Its almost like this show isn't very well written.

Yeah, Takahashi's got a wonderfully fertile imagination when it comes to games. If he were American they'd have made billions off his ideas. He'd be poor though

I not only read it, I collected all the 38 volumes released over here. It's a guilty pleasure of mine, and one of the most unintentionally funny mangas I've ever read.

I fully believe that without evidence. I don't see how it could not be.Le Redditeur wrote: ↑Sun Jul 01, 2018 12:36 amone of the most unintentionally funny mangas I've ever read.

I liked when they didn't stick to logic, it made the duels more interesting. On second thought I never touched a card of that game so how should I have known better at the time.

I dunno how much money he makes. I figured it was a lot because he never drew a manga again after YGO, except for a one shot called DRUMPF! Drump. All the other YGO manga are adaptations of the anime or R, drawn by former assistants.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 8:35 pmYeah, Takahashi's got a wonderfully fertile imagination when it comes to games. He gets royalties for all the cards and videogames based off the Yugioh trademark, man. Takahashi is probably stacked.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jul 01, 2018 1:51 amI dunno how much money he makes. I don't know the exact way that contracts work for mangaka but I do know that guys like Toriyama, Oda, Takahashi, Araki, etc, are absolutely loaded whereas in America the guy who created Rocket Raccoon is in a nursing home unable to get the level of care he needs

Look at Shuster and Siegel, or Bill Finger. Comics have a history of screwing over the OG creators. Jews jewing other Jews.
