"I'm a long time fan of Obscurus Lupa Presents. She was my first, and only, exposure to Channel Awesome. Her enthusiasm and humor about the movies she reviewed was always unparalleled. I've tried to help her out by sharing her videos. Once she moved to youtube I always Liked her videos and left comments. Sometimes she would miss a bit of trivia, so I would try to help her out and share what knowledge I had. Recently she started mentioning some of my comments in her videos. At first I was ecstatic. She noticed my comments and even mentioned them! It was almost like I was helping to write her episodes. However, when I showed my mom some of the videos where Lupa mentioned my comments, she said it sounded like Lupa was upset about the comments. I'm not sure what to think now. Lupa was a big role model for me. I feel violated that she doesn't appreciate my comments."

Come to think of it, what were scandals or bad bits of PR that did really hurt someone's popularity on YouTube?

Tobuscus comes to mind. Also that Pepper guy and several other "Just a prank bro camera is over there" kinda fagshits. Also Lionmaker being a creeper.
Phil de Franco was one of the real OGs on YT and one of the few that actually earned money, going by SXEPhil back then. He pretended to have cancer for more clicks. The fallout of that caused him to practically disappear up until a few years ago.
Renetto, also OG and partnered basically killed his channel by making vaguely pedo statements, if I remember correctly.

For INs, Silent Rob totally fucked his shit with his $5 website thing, Armake with his Alienware computer, Cloud0815 with his general emofaggyness and hardcore begging. Bla bla bla.

Keemstar got fucked pretty badly by idubbbz. Sure, he's back at it again but that's only because his stuff doesn't require people to actually like him. Keemstar is like the drug dealer that will always give a shot for free when a good customer visits him to pick up a good ration of heroin. Sure, he'll totally fuck the dude in the ass when he's passed out, and he knows it, but he'll come back anyway because he has what he needs.

Basically anybody who's accused of rape or pedophilia is most likely to get fucked, because as you've clearly seen with #meagain stunt, when you get accused, it doesn't matter whenever anything gets proven in a court, you are already guilty.

Anything else can be bad (as Kugel mentioned, couple people that idubbbz fucked up, not just Keemstar, but Leafy as well), but these guys usually get over it with time, as long as they continue having appeal for braindead morons. I remember TMartin aka "the CS:GO gambling guy", who got a lot of flak and even was sued due to lying about a gambling website, but as far as I know, he's still doing well.

People love to idolize these assholes and are willing to forgive almost anything that isn't a social tabu (like the rape allegation, like I've said, when you get marked, your life is basically over).

I saw this on twitter and I cant believe that after all of these years she still has to deal with this. She is doing really well for herself because she is naturally charming, has the passion and worked really hard to become this good at the stuff she does. It must suck to still be associated with all of this. Especially now when internet reviewing isn't actually a niche market where you have to be "signed" by some popular website.
