Come to think of it, what were scandals or bad bits of PR that did really hurt someone's popularity on YouTube? The only one I can think of offhand is the whole React World thing The Fine Bros tried to do (resulting in very noticeable drops in subscriptions), but they backpedaled from that very quickly which seemed to fix things for them.
