I miss the days when "professionals" would actually wait until they've seen a movie before giving their final judgement.

Once upon a time, Gene Siskel wouldn't even watch the trailers for a film. Now you've got every clickbait hack writing 'articles' within minutes of the trailer coming out, talking about how great the movie's going to be.

It doesn't even bear saying, but it's obviously because the majority of "critics" now are just paid shills. Blatantly paid off to shill the film based on whatever info they have, including pre-release marketing materials.

I don't watch film trailers either. Beauty of bittorrent is I can watch flicks completely blind, just jump right in. It's bit me in the ass a few times but I've seen no reason to quit.
Even good movies get shit trailers. I saw Drive's for the first time recently, it's the entire film's plot without anything that make's Drive the autism kino that it is.

I remember when Spawn came out in the summer of 1997. The movie was shit, but it had a ton of hype behind it before it came out considering Batman and Robin made comic book movies a joke a month earlier. No one made a big deal about the fact that Spawn was a black guy and that it was the first super hero movie featuring a black hero from a major comic company.

Because why would they? MiB came out that same year and nobody ever cared about Will Smith being black.

I'm from a city in which no more than maybe ten black people lived in and yet not one person ever found it odd to see them in movies. They were just cool dudes playing cool characters.
So it baffles me that a nation like the USA can grandstand about some nigger playing a role in a movie when they had Shaft and all that shit. How's that special? How's that some kinda mayor progress when back then nobody even took notice of that as something special, because it wasn't, but today they flip their shit?
It's the whole "there never were any strong female main characters in vidya/movies before" shit all over again.
It's like going apeshit over some satellite being launched and holding a teary-eyed speech about it when there are already thousands in orbit.

I knew you'd see the appeal. It's going to be a hilarious movie AND the drama will be unbelievable. The political sperge will be way more of a shitfest than any of the new star wars movies or fury road, because of the "muh 99% black characters," "muh Mahvul" and "muh current year +++."
