Re: Capeshit thread (comics and movies)
We've reached the point where most critics these days are too afraid to criticize black entertainment.
Black Panther, Get Out, black-ish, Black Lightning, Hidden Figures, 12 Years a Slave, and Moonlight to name a few. Ridiculously overpraised beyond belief.
As long as there are niggers in something politicized for the sake of amassing "muh white guilt", the critics will cuck themselves hard.

I remember when Spawn came out in the summer of 1997. The movie was shit, but it had a ton of hype behind it before it came out considering Batman and Robin made comic book movies a joke a month earlier. No one made a big deal about the fact that Spawn was a black guy and that it was the first super hero movie featuring a black hero from a major comic company.

This surprises you? It's exactly the same as the Ghostbusters debacle. You had an objectively shit movie but before it came out every hack on every hack publication payroll white-knighted for the movie endlessly. Then when the movie came out and was, in fact, as hugely shit as everyone who said it would be claimed, the critics had severe cognitive dissonance. Which they remedied by trying to pretend that the film was any good or, at least better than Ghostbusters IISeele wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 7:27 amWe've reached the point where most critics these days are too afraid to criticize black entertainment.

Same situation here. Not as much controversy but pretty much every hack publication was praising its 'diverse' cast and crew. Now the movie's turned out to be shit, they have to lie to themselves and say it isn't.

Like I said, the black panther movie looks fucking amazing. I don't know what you guys are talking about. If you're worried about the polidicks of the movie, trust me that it's not going to be an issue. Every SJW who unironically thought Black Panther would be Paul Latza levels of DEEP PLOTS is going to get BTFO by the general reaction to the film. I predict black panther appealing to the dolemite crowd and few others. This shit is way too obviously retarded to get Avengers levels of positive receptions.
Re: Capeshit thread (comics and movies)
I just figured it would be extremely mediocre in terms of objective film quality. If capeshit wasn't the cultural plague it is we wouldn't give it a second thought.

Of course it will be. It's the MCU under Disney. Gotta be as safe as possible to get that worldwide box office.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 10:26 amI just figured it would be extremely mediocre in terms of objective film quality.

And then another black hero from a major comic company came a year later and fixed the "the movie was shit" problem with Blade.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 8:06 amI remember when Spawn came out in the summer of 1997. I miss the days when "professionals" would actually wait until they've seen a movie before giving their final judgement.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 9:59 amSame situation here. Their whole "Muh diversity" campaign is sabotaging itself if they blindly overhype every shoddy production just because it has the right agenda behind it.

Re: Capeshit thread (comics and movies)
Hard to get excited for capeshit when the media headlines are all chriping "See the diverse cast!"
Not "See the story continue!" If the story is the damndest thing by the wayside, then who cares?
Didn't see Guardians 2, Spidaman, or Ragnarok because nobody talked about any surprises or anything I wanted to see. They were all also built up as little side stories anyway. It's apparent the real driving plot is tied to anything Captain America related, so if you don't see anything up to Infinity Wars you probably won't miss it. DC stuff I've also already seen done just fine in the Timm-verse--why do I need to see Aqua-Conan?*
Saw Doctor Strange because it was demons and trippy effects and different style of movie than what we saw before (love the character). Saw WW because at least it's a different World War with different reasons to hate the Germans and the movie lived or died on the quality of Steve Trevor (who was excellent).
Only will see to see Black Panther if Wakandans insist on being a higher class of African and look down on the others. Or if they actually call M'Baku "Man Ape" (which they won't).
*(Real comics Aquaman is way more badass.)

I dunno. I got mixed opinions about Blade.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 4:54 pmAnd then another black hero from a major comic company came a year later and fixed the "the movie was shit" problem with Blade.
Once upon a time, Gene Siskel wouldn't even watch the trailers for a film. Now you've got every clickbait hack writing 'articles' within minutes of the trailer coming out, talking about how great the movie's going to be.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 4:54 pmI miss the days when "professionals" would actually wait until they've seen a movie before giving their final judgement.

Re: Capeshit thread (comics and movies)
Skipping trailers 'n' shit can be a fun experience. I knew fuckall about the last Godzilla when I decided to hit the cinemas.
Blade 1 has some special effects that didn't age well and some weird scenes every now and then, but I still love the shit out of it. It's just so cool, man.
Blade 2 had more special effects that didn't age well and was a lot weirder (also bringing back Whistler was a bit of a cop-out), but I still think it's alright.
Blade Trinity was fucking weird.
