Forgot to mention, she brings it up in the video when defending the claims that Meyer is a narcissist. She says 50 Shades is plagiarism (From what I understand it was different enough that the name changes were all that was required to make it legally sellable, so no, that doesn't count) and heavily implies she thinks Meyer should have gone after it to stop it from being released. Yep, Lindsay defended Twilight. TL;DW it's hated so much because teenage girls liked it.

So the video pretty much boils down to "It's not that bad" and does the bullshit of "these other works do it too but they get away with it" excuse, giving a nod to how the examples she picked don't fully embrace it and tries to say Twilight was also self-aware. And the main opponents were women like her who just wanted an excuse to hate girly women. She outright admits most of the 'haters' were girls going after other girls, but tries to frame it as a feminist thing. There was also a chunk about how Stephanie Meyer got too much hate and didn't need to respond to all the criticism she got, even though Lindsay admits she was one of the critics back then.

So she is being a contrarian hipster. It wasn't hated because teen girls liked it, it was hated because it was a shit thing that was stupidly popular. Like when people hated Beiber because he made shit songs that were popular.

Twilight hate got out of control, yes, but it didn't come out of no fucking where. Bad books, amateurishly written (that is why after twilight, the author just got another book deal that bombed and nothing else (not that Meyer wants or needs to write a single word ever again), and it was just a plain bad story. twilight's problem wasn't because it was a YA books, with all the tropes and stuff, but it was a very very bad YA books even to the low standart of the genre

My guess? she is just covering her ass, a few months ago people were going at each other's throats because of the Megan Fox hate back in the 2007, you know, even even guys like Moviebob were calling her a blow up doll, and now they had to admit that it was misogyny or some shit like that. Soon the whole twilight hate could be seen in the same light.

And Lindsay is just trying to get ahead of the curve. First she was too smart to be into twilight, smugly making fun of the books and its fans, but now she is too enlightened compared to the masses, and see that it is silly to put such hate in a couple of silly books.
