It’s normal for embargo’s to lift around like the Monday before the movie opens - so the night before it opens is abnormal - which is what the Marvels did - but opening night is more abnormal and usually only something saved for like, Piranha 3D.

Talking about capeshit is really starting to feel more like discussion of other dead genres. When we first began to shit on capeshit here, hardcore, everyone in the mainstream was loving the movies. I remember the big shit-talking starting around the time of the Avengers, or maybe the second Avengers movie. From then to now, our DHI-held opinions have become so commonplace in both the real world and online (although we are still harsher than them,) that it's almost redundant (beating the dead horse? HMMMMNNNN) to talk about capeshittery here.

The morale of the story is DHI Is Always Right. But I do have to wonder what will happen next. Do the studios continue to pump out stinker after stinker, with massive budgets and equally hilarious losses? Will they scale down their production costs so the standards for success are more achievable? Will a mega-hit revitalize the genre temporarily? (I doubt that last one.)

I guess I'm wondering if the genre dies with a whimper or a bang.

The Marvels lost at least 100 mil (I don’t know how much the strike saved them on marketing - if anything) - that’s a big flop.

I know Igers talking about budget cuts - whether that means better management of the production process or these movies somehow look worse is anybody’s guess.

Marvel's approach is just fucked. The masses aren't interested in C-list comic book heroes. Making them work via tying them into all other movies doesn't since that fad died with Endgay.

A lot of people were really relieved they now didn't "have to" watch shitflix of characters they couldn't care less about. Many used it as the jump off point entirely.
