Right? Shinji is a 14 year old who’s only living relative is a cold blooded nutcase too, but he still prevails despite trauma. Evangelion isn’t a shounen series for a reason, characters don’t just bounce back up after a traumatic loss or event. As much script tweaking as I think it needed Spoony was just riding the contrarian train for his fanboys who liked his angry tirades.

And don’t kid yourself, the One Winged Asshole probably pawned his Switch for more Jack Daniels if he even had one to begin with. He won’t be playing Smash anytime soon.
