The Buu Saga was an odd one to end the series with, but some of the goofier shit like Great Saiyaman and Mr. Satan felt like a faint echo from Vanilla DB.
The Buu Saga is the typical thing that happens when a creator is getting tired of the series he’s been working on for way too long and is kinda just writing whatever dumb thing he feels like until whatever contract he’s under expires. The only interesting thing about that season was Vegeta’s arc, which was consequently deflated because Goku was all “But i have this other transformation honestly I was just humoring you I could’ve kicked your ass at any time” shit, which yeah, the show pulls that shit a lot, but Vegeta as the conflicted and bitter renegade bad guy was way more interesting than whatever was going on with Gohan, that wizard bad guy, or the 2,381 Majin Boo transformations.
Just a bad arc all around.

I think Gohan and Mr. Satan are the only two characters who never died in the entire run of Dragon Ball, no?
Gohan did die when Buu blew up the Earth. Mr. Satan is the only one to survive in the original run of Dragon Ball.

It may be an unpopular opinion in the english speaking net but the Boo saga is probably the second favourite saga in Europe, Brazil / Mexico and of course Japan, right after the Saiyan / Frieza saga. The Cell saga is almost always considered the worst one, saved only due to 18's hot looks and because of Cell himself(the japanese also love Future Trunks to death) because he's voiced by Norio motherfucking Wakamoto and he gives it his all. Hell, according to Tori himself back in the day, it was one of his favourite sagas because he finally got to right humour again and go back to magic and mystical shit he liked, like the Z Sword and Boo himself fucking around with magic from time to time.
Tori milking the dead cow is Super. Toei milking the dead cow is Dragon Ball Heroes(ever since 2006).
I can see that just from a cultural standpoint alone. Burgerland prefers their entertainment to be serious while the Japs like theirs to be more light hearted. You can see this in Power Rangers vs. Super Sentai.
The funny part about people loving the Cell Saga and hating the Buu Saga is that they both have the exact same problems. But people overlook it because the whole Android arc is much shorter

I would understand if they stopped at Cell because they were planning for more but just couldn’t muster any enthusiasm for it.
I don't think they even got to the Cell saga in the first place. Those niggers were working slow.

First episode of DBZA Cell Saga: December 19, 2012 (Episode #31)
Last episode of DBZA Cell Saga: 4-parter spread from August 31, 2018 to December 25, 2018 (Episode #60)
Even counting "Episode 60" as 4 episodes, that's like 5.5 episodes per year.

I can't say I remember the old anime as well, in terms of episode count but I'm pretty sure it's the same amount of manga chapters in both the Cell and Boo saga, with both being the longest ones in DB, with the Frieza+Saiyan one lagging just a bit behind them.

No. In the Z section, Cell is definitely the shortest arc. While the Frieza arc is the longest if you count the Saiyans
OG Dragon Ball in the Manga is 3 years. If I remember after that. Saiyan about 1. Namek is 3 years. Whole Android arc is 1. While Buu arc is 3.

I see. I remembered Cell saga being long for some reason.
