Consider this. These fucks collect 60 thousand dollars (I'll just go with that figure) to make a movie and produce shit like Atop The Fourth Wall The Movie or The Cinema Snob Movie. Meanwhile in the 90s, with less access to filmming equipment and modern editing and effects software and working with a budget of 7,000 dollars, the equivalent of just $11,866.33 today, Robert Rodriguez made El Mariachi. Hell even Kevin Smith managed to make Clerks on half the budget these fuckers raise.

El Mariachi was not made as a blockbuster. It was actually made as a shitty direct-to-video film, exclusively for Mexican markets, to help fund a separate Rodriguez project. Executives at Columbia just happened to like the film so much that they picked it up for American distribution, where they proceeded to spend much, much more money on it. Granted most of that was marketing, but still
