He was watchable until he joined tgwtg, but he was never good, just one in a very small field. For all his supposed popularity I don't think he's even had one video reach a million views even after 13 years.

Old youtube, and I mean old youtube, wasn't that big. A big viral video would get 1 million views. AVGN was the biggest of the game-reviewers, but Spoony was the 2nd tier below that for 2007-2009. If the Ol Spoonster had a regular work ethic I think he could be bigger than Angry Joe is today.

A million views was outrageous. AVGN had around 100k subs, which also was a whole fucking lot. For those times, Spoony was doing fairly alright. It'll be forever amusing to me for how long being part of TGWTG was a two-edged sword. Guaranteed audience but as the years went on that audience became less and less of a boon. It's like getting guaranteed income in Argentina. What was a good payday five years ago doesn't even buy a loaf of bread today.
