The funny thing about "Let the ads play" is that it wasn't meant to be a lecture, it was Lewis trying to be open, honest and respectful to the people who use ad block, asking them nicely to disable, or to support in other ways... but he has no idea how to do any of that, so he just comes off like a smug prick.

This was always my reaction to it. The problem isn't what he says in the video, but the way he says it.

You can see this also rear its ugly head in that bit at the start of one of his Power Rangers videos where he tells people to stop asking him when the next video will be because it's not on a schedule. The request itself isn't unreasonable, the problem is how he goes about asking.

Especially when he starts listing off what he's been doing that's taking up his time, it comes across as "You obviously know exactly what's keeping me busy, so why are you making such unreasonable demands" like he assumes everyone follows every post, tweet and video.

Dart had the problem too, it's not unreasonable to ask people to not try and bribe him into letting them jump the queue but it's the way he says it.

On a similar note, what is it with Nobodies getting pissy at multiple people asking them the same questions? Why can't they either just answer or ignore it like a normal person? Nope, lecture your audience instead to get THEM make sure nobody has asked it before.

I've seen a number of these guys do it, but Linky is a big offender. Jim Stirling as well. Cheeky arrogant fucks.

If I had to take a guess, I would say they either like lecturing their fans, or they see the question as some kind of personal attack if the question could be interpreted as there being something "wrong" with their quality content.

That's not just an internet nobody thing, Bill Nye did a recent leddit AMA and treated every question lobbed at him as a personal attack on his character. I don't think people who aren't egotistical dickbags have these concerns.
