As far as I know Toyotaro's only responsible for the manga, although he's started working a bit on the anime. One of his stories for his AF fanfiction involved a evil clone Goku being controlled by one of the Kaioshins turned evil so that entire retarded plotline in Super with Future Trunks and Goku Black was probably his idea

Well, still getting paychecks for doing stuff with for a manga you wanted to end decades ago should do a number on your motivation eventually.

It didn't ruin battle manga forever. That's what Bleach and - to a slightly lesser extent - Naruto did. They took the concept, jumped the shark with it and then pile-drived it into the ground.

Dragonball Z was certainly the start of that, Bleach and Naruto just took those concepts and ramped them up.
