Eh, I enjoyed his Earthbound video because you could tell it was genuine. He didn't cover anything people didn't already know, but he did capture the appeal of the game well. I also liked his videos on weird Game Boy peripherals and other obscure shit where you can tell he's at least put some effort in even if he doesn't care. Although his movie vlogs are the most low-effort of all the stuff he does, he just sits there and talks about movies he likes, but it's by far his best content these days.

That's literally the only 'old' avgn video where he does this. Right after that came the first J&H video where he doesn't even play the game and from there it's the most over the top he's ever been.

Old AVGN was raging and going apeshit, but he had more passion behind him. The Current Year Nerd is basically reading off curses from a list or something, not because he thinks that's a good idea, but because it is expected of him to do lotsa cursing.

He was pretty laidback when he did stuff like Sword Quest, and it's a shame he didn't stick with it.
