An issue a lot of people seem to have when they get a lot more money than they're used to is not realizing there are still limits to the thing, even if it's more than you had before, and recklessly spending it without thinking of the consequences. It's why so many lottery winners go broke within a few years despite having more money than I'm likely to make in my entire life.

If you suddenly end up with a much higher income than you had before, one of the smartest things you can do, money wise, is to not considerably increase your expenses and just live the way you were before. By all means, get a few extra luxuries with your money if you want, but keep things the same for the most part.
