"Recent polls have shown, a fifth of Americans can't locate the U.S. on a world map." This was 10 years ago, has the situation become better or worse since then? If they can't locate even their own big-ass country on a world map, how many Americans can locate Canada? One out of fifty?
Don't be too cocky about geography. People in general are terrible at it. I've seen something ten years ago where they'd have a map of Europe and many people couldn't point out Germany. There were even the country letters on the nations. Some bitch saw Switzerland with the CH on it and thought it was China.

OK granted, I probably couldn't find exact locations or borders, but I sure as fuck can find the general area of any country on an unmarked map....
