I really enjoy MST3K, but at the same time I hold it responsible for all of the current shitty Lupas who've stolen the idea but none of the panache or wit. It's bittersweet.

Spoony credits MST3K as his inspiration to start an internet show. It's why he has that stupid dust buster robot he never uses for anything.

All nobodies from that generation of internet nobodies are ripping off MST3K. That's why they expect all of their viewers to get all of their MST3K references, and that's also why they avoid reviewing anything MST3K covered (at least AFAIK), for it is considered haram to steal from the Holy Book of Tom Servo.

My dad was huge into MST3k but even he can admit about half the series was shit.

It's not a series you're supposed to pay attention to. You put it on in the background, listen a bit for some jokes, and watch the skits.

I can't believe how many of these Nobodies think it's a good idea to spend their free time watching terrible movies that no one cares about. It explains Lupa's view count.

I think it's that and the fact that covering the same films would mean they'd either end up stealing/copying jokes, or just throw into stark relief how truly awful they are at what they do. MST3K isn't perfect or hilarious, but they're God-tier compared to Lupa and co. MST3k makes me laugh sometimes - Lupa has neer done that once.
