So, I've finally caught up with this mess and I've got to say, if there was ever a use for the phrase "tempest in a teacup" this pretty much nails it.
Let's start with Lupa. Okay, so we've got a picture here that says, basically, Lupa was sweet and innocent and did nothing wrong ever, and yet, was called a "troublemaker" and fired for not getting on a Skype call for 15 minutes. Suppose, though, that's not the only thing she ever did wrong, and suppose all of her friends would rather hush all of that up because they had grievances with Michaud as well? I'm not saying her allegations are false, but it throws up a red flag with me that she was all sweet and innocent.
Then, there's Doge. Hoo boy. James Rolfe was called the man-baby of the internet reviewer set, but everyone turned a blind eye to this yo-yo? After the way he quit his job and the results from anything approximating "original" that he produced? People compare him to Tommy Wiseau, but at least Wiseau actually DID produce things that were original and apparently had a talent for raising millions of dollars.
And the rest of the crew - there isn't a single one that couldn't have known what was going on, even a little bit - you hang around someplace for long enough, you know the score and the drama. All of them are jumping ship because it looks bad NOW. Spare me. I don't feel sorry for any of you. You all could have quit when Doge killed off the NC, but the genuine sentiment seemed to be that they were shocked - SHOCKED - that he was killed off and their own shows would lose support and viewership (that is, they needed CA in order to maintain prominence). Well, what are you all doing NOW? Probably using the controversy to plug your own internet presence to stave off the irrelevance for a few more days.
They were all teenagers with little business sense - they learned what life in the real world is when you have a job that doesn't pay much and your employer takes liberties that it shouldn't. Congratulations, do better when you work with someone who pays you above the table next time.
As for the complaint that there were allegations of sexual misconduct that Michaud/the Walkers were sitting on for "years": well, what did you expect them to do with allegations? Could they have been proven? If not, you're wasting your time trying to bring it up again. If so, why aren't you going to the police with them?
Granted, Michaud's response deserved the vitriol it got, but to treat the CA production staff as if this is somehow not a consequence of living in the real world when much of the complaints are petty annoyances or stuff they either can't or won't bring up in a court of law and they're some doe-eyed fawns that are deserving of more sympathy because of their first-world problems and lack of common sense? Bite me.
