The big issue with responding is that it can easily bring it to the attention of people who wouldn't have otherwise known about it. As the story still seems to be relatively small outside of the circle of people who honestly were probably at least somewhat aware of this to begin with, any response would largely serve to draw attention to it by people who otherwise would have been unaware.
