If he does switch off the patreon, I'll say good on him for following through on his promise. From what I can tell he did actually deliver on his promises, though the quality wasn't a guarantee, especially on the TGWTG stuff.
The quality is never a solid bet when any of these fucks starts a patreon. The quality always goes down. You'd think it would go up since they're going from unpaid work to paid work. They're even given the money before delivering anything.
But that's kind of the problem. They start to feel entitled to the money, making videos becomes "like work" and they either slack off and never deliver, or go DSP and shit out as much bilge as possible so they can say they're "working their asses off."
I suppose it depends what the person is being paid for too, since shit like let's plays never took much effort to begin with. So there probably isn't much difference between a let's player before patreon and a let's player after patreon. All they have to do is play games and react to them with a camera on.
In the specific case of Metokur, you can tell he never would have made the TGWTG videos if he hadn't been paid to make them.
