With 98% default assets!

(The other 2% are default sprites with added shades and spiky hair.)

It it easier to avoid the idiots that call themselves that
-On the internet, everyone end up being Spoony or Tim Buckley
-All fanbases are shit

They have multiple computer versions now. I actually picked up one dirt cheap during a steam sale. It's a somewhat versatile tool for making retro RPG's but Sturgeon's Law is in full effect. Most of the games people make are garbage. Even most of the "good" games are just mildly interesting. I don't begrudge people making stuff with it, but don't call yourself a "game developer". You know full well that people think of someone who works with a programming team at an actual company when you say that shit. Maaaybe you can call yourself a "game maker" if over 1000 people have played your game. Anything further and you're just a pretentious douchebag.

It can definitely be useful in teaching you how a tile-based RPG can be made, and starting with XP you can dive in the internal scripts to change a lot of stuff.

(Though what really sucks is how recent versions handle XP thresholds. That shit's using some weird formula that has like half a dozen variables. Just let me input that shit on a per level basis.)

A shame many people are a bit lazy. Especially these "survival horror" type of games barely do anything with the UI, leaving the menu with stuff their game doesn't even use (like say Levels, EXP, often also Hit Points).
