A lot of the more annoying aspects of the last sjediw were down to rian being an edgelord about star wars. "Fans like this thing? FUCKING RUIN IT FOR THEM." Seemed like the guy personally took umbrage at anyone who liked those old movies, and wanted to piss in their faces.

I think that has more to do with his reaction to 7 being a retread. He probably hated that direction so fucking much, more than any sperg on the internet, and in a rage decided to kill all nostalgia about Star Wars. I honestly think he had original ideas planned and lashed out in his frustration with all the changes he made by accident, people think it was a Fuck You to the fans, but I honestly think it was just a Fuck You to JJ for doing the nostalgia garbage and having all this mystery box shit in it. The scene where Luke just throws the lightsaber away defines that for me, JJ made that a huge melodramatic moment at the end of 7 and Luke just throwing it was a slap in the face to JJ being an idiot.

The doubled lightsaber is made for force users that focuse on defensive fighting against multiple foes, it can be used to more easily block a hit from the side and in the hands of someone really well trained both in its use and the force you can use it to block hit on a 360 degree range of defenseand rapidly hit opponents at a distance from one another and if fast enough overwhelm an enemy defense even fater than one blade.
I'm really not trying to sperge (seriously) and a one blade lightsaber is better in almost every fight but the double bladed one isn't that bad if the user has the knowledge and skill to use it properly.

TRrust me, You're slower and able to block less with a double bladed lightsaber. The "Duel of the Fates" should've been Obi Wan and Qui Gonn tip-cutting the shit outta Maul with Maul unable to respond or block.

I didn't quote anything from the EU, i tried to think how a laser sword with two blade could be used by what amount to a magic user, realism was out the window a while back

I'm not even talking about physics, I'm talking geometry. There are whole spots on Maul's body that he is unable to defend because doing so would mean pushing one of those two blades into his body.

I think Snoke's death being retconned is more likely. JJ obviously had big plans for that character. Snoke already looks like he's been cut apart and put back together a few times, so I think this can be explained away easily as one of Snoke's abilities.

I liked Last Jedi btw. It was marketed as being Empire 2.0 but ended up being nothing like it, which is why it upset a lot of nerds. I enjoyed it for what it was, and for a Shekel Mouse film it was surprisingly complex. It didn't really feel like it was the middle film of a trilogy though, it felt like it was written in isolation rather than considering episodes 7 and 9.

I'm more upset that critics consider it the best Star Wars movie since Empire.

Also I just finished watching Season 3 of Rebels, and Maul basically got killed for good because his lightsaber kinda sucks at blocking a vertical overhead slash from a guy standing directly in front of him. Sliced his lightsaber in half and cut through his chest.

One I can think of his his brother, hilariously enough. He's been magicall roided up the gills and has one of the most edgy names I've seen in Star Wars. Savage Oppress(ion) or something.

Not wanting to sperg out over a kids' cartoon, but I actually thought that fight between Obi-Wan and Maul was kino. I suppose it helps having several seasons to build up the characters but that fight was perfect and told a way better story than any of the flippy shit from the prequel trilogy. Obi Wan has been living in the desert, he doesn't want to kill Maul but he knows he has to, and does without hesitation. Maul is arrogant, taunts Obi-Wan, giving Obi-Wan time to get a bead on him. Then he tries using the exact same move that he killed Qui-Gon with and gets rekt, arrogant to the last.

I don't understand why that depth of character and storytelling can't be written into the movies.
