There's no option for the patronees to foot the charge, and they twisted it with nonsense about people favoured the idea. (who on this planet likes being charged more???)

I also read that payacon is now charging for a pledge as soon as you make the pledge, so no more "pledge, download shit, unpledge" and never pay.
The new structure would ALMOST make sense if it was only for your first pledge for a creator, since they could argue they are processing a lot more transactions for someone that signs up and pledges to 10-20 people, there's 10-20 transactions instead of one big one at the end of the month. No need for those fees after the first pledge though, since they would almost certainly just process the total amount.
It would also be less of a hassle if you could preload your account (maybe you can, I don't know) and pledges that would come from your balance don't have the fee.
But those solutions would take money from payacon's paws.
If I understand it correctly, if I made 10 $1 pledges I would be charged $1.50 (just simplifying it) 10 times for a total of $15. Payacon would be paying 10 processing fees. Not unreasonable since credit card processing fees are expensive.
However, after the first month I would still be charged the whole fees, so now payacon is charging me $15 once. So they are only paying 1 processing fee to the credit card companies.
Now they got an extra $4.50 for themselves.

I call that karmic backlash considering many internet nobodies are double or even triple dipping (I'm looking at you, DSP).Guru Larry wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2017 3:20 pmThey're charging donators to donate now. on top of the 5% processing fee they take off. So they're essentially double dipping.

Well, if you're lazy and just let patreon collect the money for you, it serves you right to get screwed. Let's face it, unless you provide some complicated rewards for your patrons where it would be costly for you to set up your own solution (and by internet nobody's standards, every commision from other people is viewed as costly), you can easily cut the middle man.
Ross Scott has paypal on his site and it works just fine for him, and the monthly sessions he does with his viewers don't exclude those that don't give him money.
And DSP gets money from jewtube ads (likely just petty change), twitch ads, twitch donations and patreon, so that's already 4 separate incomes.

You're on DHI. It's basically the law that if you want to say something you just say it.
