My point is that they didn't put the knife in her hand (no, I don't know how she killed herself, I'm just using that as an example).

Think of it this way: If Spoony goes on Twitter and claims that his healthcare system doesn't care if he kills himself and you say, "do it faggot," and then the next day he goes out and buys a gun and shoots himself in the head then, sure, you played a part in telling him to do it but you didn't make the choice to buy a gun and shoot himself for him, now, did you?

Suicide is a personal choice with consequences that affect far more than yourself. It is a wholly selfish action (in all but a few cases-- I'm not heartless, I'm just trying to remain logical) and is a permanent solution for a temporary problem, in most cases. Unless there was someone there guiding her hand she is the only one who can be held accountable for making that choice.

My other point is that this topic title, and the inherent outrage surrounding this topic, are missing the bigger picture. Suicide isn't something that just happens out of the blue. Yes, the act itself is often spur of the moment, but there is, essentially, a running tab that leads up to this sort of thing. To put the brunt of the blame on this one event? That's sensationalist. That's the same outrage culture that people like us generally go against. That's the same sort of illogical thing that suicide prevention centers tell everyone not to do.

It's also why we never seem to be able to prevent mass shootings, since we focus so much on finding someone to blame in the immediate sense instead of looking into the bigger picture, but that's another topic, entirely.

I'm not even saying that my view on the situation is the correct one to have, or anything, either. I've just had the experience of someone around me committing suicide and I've seen the way people react. Blaming someone, something, anything is simply how the human mind makes sense of things when a situation is so unbelievable that it... breaks? Not sure how I want to word that but I think that gets the gist across.

This is a text medium, though, so I think it'd do some good to collect your thoughts and calm yourself before commenting on serious political/societal matters. Outrage culture and speaking without thinking on these matters is the type of thing that counter-culture edgelords like us dislike, right?
