It's not the notion that she might have been "driven to suicide" by the incident that gets me so much as the fuckers trampling over a still warm corpse to show just how "moral" they are. In this day of age, there is no way to get away from the bullying. When 4chan can find a flag, with only the sky and flightpaths to go on to know the location of said flag, you are fucked if you are ever mass bullied.

Shia was very fun to fuck with. He's obviously deranged in an expressive manner. He's also revoltingly full of himself. Then he created a laughable demonstration that is a public annoyance to most people who'd encounter it, caused civil unrest in the area and was low-effort trollable. He was so deluded that he thought that shit would be kept open for four years. It was a miracle that nobody got stabbed in the first week of it.
It ended because he got arrested for assaulting somebody because he's just so fucking unstable. Then he took his flag and after the short-lived instalment somewhere else, ran like a bitch with it.

All of that is vital. He didn't just went through multiple steps to piss off people and has proven himself as a giant source of lulz, he went the extra fucking mile with it. He ran two times, was defeated conclusively and yet refused to finally quit. Instead, he raised the stakes.
It was clear that if the flag could be found and taken, it would generate historical amounts of lulz. He proposed a much greater challenge than just walking up to a camera and shout "Praise kek!" with the guarantee to have a mondo meltdown if defeated.

In short: He didn't just respond to the trolls. He made his dumb flag the holy grail of trolling. The flag should've said "Please, go out of your way to fuck with me! It's going to pay off big!".

The problem is the assumption that all of the people in the industry throwing shade at her were people that were close to her and that she knew very well.

Again, this ignores the fact that she had people on her side defending her through the entire thing and she still chose to end her life instead of walking away from Twitter for a while.
Functioning adults can handle not agreeing with other functioning adults. The fact that she killed herself makes it obvious that she had mental issues and this, "bullying," isn't the only factor in her deciding to end it all.

I haven't seen anything saying that someone close like her mother or best friend told her to kill herself. I also haven't seen any claims that she was harassed by people outside of her Twitter page.

Ames's Twitter is still active and there are screencaps of the event all over the place. From what I can see one minor-league gay porn star (some guy named Jaxton Wheeler) told her to take cyanide and then a handful of gay porn guys, dickgurls, anonymous Twitter eggs, and two mainstream female porn stars called her some combination of "homophobic/ignorant/stupid". I think one of the female porn stars also made a short video calling her stupid, but I haven't seen the vid so I can't say to what degree.

Maybe one of those people were very important to her? But, I haven't seen any claim of that being the situation.

Also, like someone commented earlier, this wasn't a 100% hate avalanche. About half of the comments on the initial Tweet were from fans and other porn stars (friends?) agreeing with her statement (or at the very least supporting her right to say it). Follow up tweets had an even bigger level of support.

Yes, some of the replies she got were needlessly harsh and the reactions from some people after her death have been ghoulish, but I don't expect folks that go by Candi RaXXX and Long Dong Silver to be big on empathy or moral comprehension in the first place.
