Why is he doing that anyway? Is it like Gamedude commenting on videos to get views?

Nah, he's always been doing that since before Google owned YT and in a time when barely anyone was watching YT.
Nobody got anything from views or subs, monetization wasn't even a thing.
It's just his hobby, I guess. It's also where he's got the Guru name from. It was one of the old channel types back then.
