Some Trump voter dude on a music-related Facebook group I follow snapped this past weekend and went on a big rant about how he's sick of how leftist the group is.

(Meanwhile the group is only sporadically political. "No Kings" and Iran moved the needle a little, but mostly the place sticks to music. I enjoy the group!)

Me, I'm just as right-wing as he seems to be, but I don't relate to his approach at all. This argument he started just looks like a lot of hassle, to me. "Hey, here are twenty more Facebook notifications from people calling me Hitler". He's fighting with these people and it seems to take a lot of time (his replies to his replies are LOOOOONG) and he's clearly not having fun. I couldn't do it. I want to have FUN online. Maybe that's weird, but like the fags and the troons say, I was born this way.

So you find places to vent where you can be anonymous so who gives a shit what anyone says about you?

I can't agree with this completely. Some of the most insightful people I know about art and music are turbo-leftists. And I knew some of these people before some posters on DHI were born, so tell me that I'm gay for being friends with them, but my roots with them are deeper than my roots with YOU, fellow DHI shitposter. I have a few thousand Facebook "friends' from being involved with music for too many years.

I'm pretty comfortable with keeping my interactions with these people free of politics. Maybe that's because I'm old enough to remember when none of this mattered and, while political disagreements could get fiery, we weren't trained yet to interpret the other person's views in the worst light possible (Right wing = NAZIS!; Left wing = PEDOS!).

You just have to accept that politics will leak into any forum and, if the forum is otherwise interesting or helpful, you have to not care.

I know that I'm not a Nazi. I don't need to defend myself against those who want to tell me that I am. It's far more amusing to me to just keep quiet and laugh at them while scrolling on my phone.
