You don't want the government to be able to define 'illegal.'

I don't really care. The government already defines "citizen" and what crimes are. Plus the courts are still the government and the judicial branch is just as politicized as the legislature and executive ones.

Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Re: God Emperor Megathread (Trump and his presidency)
One of the concerns of non-citizens not having due process rights is that citizenship is determined at court. That's one of the ways you would prove your citizenship beyond doubt. If you are never allowed a court date then you can never prove your citizenship or any other right to stay in the country (such as if you were a legal immigrant, green card holder, permanent resident etc.)
So protecting right of due process for non-citizens helps prevent US citizens and green card holders from being wrongfully deported.
Otherwise, you're just relying on the goodwill of ICE to not wrongfully deport you even after you show them all your US citizen proofs. A judge with no deportation quota is somewhat less biased.

If you want robust due process and court hearings for every deportation then the Dems should get on board with strong border security, changing the asylum process and expanding immigration courts. A free-for-all in one direction (that just happens to favor the desires of one political party) isn't tenable.
If an actual US citizen gets deported (which I'm not sure has even happened yet, Kilmar Garcia was illegal and citizen children of illegals are self-deporting by definition) then bring them back and cut them a check for the trouble but right now I'm okay with a wide net approach.
