Re: Star Dreck
Kurtzman's not smart enough to take Trek in new directions, so that's a bit of a given.
The best they could do at this point is a throwback series, which probably isn't profitable, because TOS is slow (and 'problematic') and most folks have the brainrot these days.

I don't even think it qualifies, being a made-for-streaming "movie".CuckTurdginson wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 9:11 pmMaybe Section 31 sweep the Razzies next year, idk. Would be nice, even though I'm not a huge Trek fan.

Dear Santa and Unfrosted were both made for streaming and they got in this year! They're not going to sweep tho.Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 5:18 amI don't even think it qualifies, being a made-for-streaming "movie".CuckTurdginson wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 9:11 pmMaybe Section 31 sweep the Razzies next year, idk. Even if one never got awarded before, the movie awards can't escape the streaming curse forever.
As it stands now, they have no idea what Star Trek is even supposed to be, or how Starfleet officers are supposed to behave.
And they were professional, instead of manchildren hanging out in bars.
They'd have a lot of research to do to ever approach acceptable quality levels.CuckTurdginson wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 3:40 amThe best they could do at this point is a throwback series, which probably isn't profitable, because TOS is slow (and 'problematic') and most folks have the brainrot these days.

Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

If Emilia Perez wins best picture, it will be the worst winner in 60 years. It was made for streaming, seemingly.

Are there currently any good science fiction tv shows more recent than, say, DS9? Was The Expanse decent? I've been in the mood for some science fiction but I've seen everything that's older than DS9 era.

Seen it!
Seen most animu science fiction shit too, unless it's relatively recent. But if it's hard SF or space opera then I've probably seen it. If it's slice-of-life then I haven't seen and don't want to.

Have you watched Legend of the Galactic Heroes in its entirety? Best sci-fi anime I ever watched.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 5:52 amSeen it!
