No matter where they held the wedding, having about 6 guests was going to make the event look pitiful. They've got enough people there to just about fill up a shoe closet.

My parents got married with only 3 people in attendance. Though I think it was also a somewhat impromptu thing, most of their friends and family didn't even know it happened until after the fact. I mean, they knew they getting married at some point so it wasn't a total surprise, but they didn't know beforehand when it would happen.

If I ever get married, I'll want as small a ceremony as possible, because those things get ridiculously expensive ($20,000-$30,000) if you want to have a big one. Granted, the families of the couple will often pay for a good amount of that, but even then I'd probably want it small just so there's little need to fret about logistics and planning.

I only had a hundred people at mine, we tried to keep it to close friends and family only, and that was still pretty expensive. But the main problem is working out a day that everyone can be there for and then trying to find companies who can accommodate that date. And once they hear wedding, get ready to watch the prices skyrocket.

Though there is a tradition with Lebanese weddings where instead of bringing gifts, you just bring an envelope with money in it that the couple can use to pay for the ceremony and get their lives started. We suggested that to most guests but in western culture it's considered rude to give money as a present instead of some object (Not sure why) so most people brought gifts. Anyone need a dust buster? I've got like seven.
