Hair Metal.

One can argue that numetal, metalcore, grindcore and so on aren't "true metal", but all of those subgenres are metal compared to that pop-rock music.

That's a whole can of worms on its own.
The -core stuff mostly isn't Metal. It's all Rock, of course, but it's derived from Hardcore and thus Punk. Many Grindcore bands are also very close to Sludge, which also is a Rock subgenre but not a Metal one.

That doesn't make it automatically bad and nobody should be asshurt over that. But some people really are.
Nu-Metal isn't Metal at all either. Again, not a sign or quality or lack thereof.

Hair and Glam are a difficult one. Some bands are just straight up Pop Rock, like Europe for example. Hair is never Metal but there is some Glam Metal.
Mötley Crüe for example had enough classic Heavy Metal in their songwriting.

It doesn't greatly matter. It's mostly just gatekept bitches whining about their faggot Deathcore band not being allowed on the Metal Archives.

I haven't listened to much Absurd but what I've heard I didn't like. I'm not all that much into pure Black Metal and especially not into Scandinavian Black Metal.
Some is alright. I prefer Black Metal mixed with Thrash Metal. Desaster for example is excellent!

Kerry King is swinging by Toronto in February. I only want to go to finally see Municipal Waste. Mayhem and Carcass/Cannibal Corpse/Meshuggah is playing March but winter driving in Canada is hell.

I haven't actually listened to Kerry King's album. He's getting memed on something fierce and does deserve it because he's a douchebag but I can imagine it's terrible.

I'll download it and listen to it tomorrow at work.

Again, I don't care much about Kerry King. You should give Municiple Waste a listen if you haven't. Best Crossover/Thrash band since the eighties. I don't care much to see Meshuggeh, either, but i missed Carcass last fall when they played with Hatebreed.

I know Municipal Waste and they are kind of alright, I guess. I'm not much into the party Thrash kind of thing.
Toxic Holocaust makes them entirely obsolete.

Edit: I've listened to the first four songs of Kerry's album just now and so far I'm not looking forward to the rest of it.

Toxic Holocaust is great, too. They definitely were inspired by acts like DRI and Discharge.

Kerry King's few solo singles I've heard on YouTube just reminds me of Slayer. I don't know why King made his album a solo project when his backing band is more of a supergroup rather than hired goons.
