I know you're old, but one of the reasons recruitment is down is 20 years of Dubya foreign wars combined with too many fat Americans. No military in the world wants Wings of Redemption types. Many of those who are fit enough to apply despise the use to which the American Military is put by rich old fucks.

Most people who join are conservative minded, the draft existed to force the liberals to attribute their share. The federal government has done nothing but vilify the working white male, so why join to die in a foreign war?

Here's an olive branch.

Something I appreciated about Trump's first term, and what looks poised to repeat itself, is the increase in civic engagement. He's obnoxious and inflammatory enough that all of a sudden people start paying attention to what their legislatures and school boards are doing and how they respond to his antics.

For Burgerland, I do think we made a collective mistake treating civic engagement as a 'right' rather than a definite obligation and duty.
