So I did some research out of morbid curiosity...


It finally happened!!! After over a decade of waiting, the Lara-Su Chronicles are upon us!

(Fun fact: the new versions of Kenders' OC echidna waifus are right next to their original counterparts. I can scarcely tell the difference.)

Now after getting nightmares from Kenders' quality art style and laughing your ass off at Obvious Photo Trace Space Nigga and whatever the fuck the tentacle head chad in the upper left is supposed to be, you might be wondering why the fuck the three character in the center are drawn in a completely different art style.
It's 'cause they're traced from a certain other cover...



Das rite! Roughly 80% of this 160 page book are a reprint of the infamous Archie Sonic's "Mobius: 25 Year Later" story arc.
How can he do that? Well, thanks to Archie Comic's epic blunder in court, Ken Penders not only retained the rights to his precious OCs, but is also free to reprint all of the Archie Comics stories he wrote (provided he replaces the covers with something sufficiently non-Sega).

Now what in the ever loving fuck is Mobius: 25 Years Later, or M25YL as people call it in hushed whispers?
It was basically a storyline detached from the then current continuity, depicting an (alternate) future for the Blue Blur and his friends (but mostly Knuckles, this is a Penders story, after all). It was also Ken Penders personal baby, his magnum opus that he has been teasing forever.
Then it actually came out - and it was a boring slog where nothing happens because the characters spent issue after issue just lounging around, doing and talking nothing of value. The supposed selling point Lara-Su (aka Knuckles' daughter) was more of an extra in her own story, running in circles having the same argument with her dad over and over again.
Then just as things started to happen everything ends in a cliffhanger that is never followed up on (at least not by Kenders, who was busy quitting over creative differences).
Suffice to say, it did not even meet the historically low quality standards of the Archie Sonic comic fandom.

Now of course he had to reprint this because of course the Lara-Su Chronicles are a continuation of M25YL (with time travel shenanigans "explaining" why only Kenders' OCs exist now). It's also only to the benefit of the reader, because Penders' current art style has not improved one bit from the early previews that everyone has made fun of and which I'm sure need no further elaboration.
Oh, who am I kidding. Enjoy the breastfeeding panel.

So how are the new pages (aside from looking godawful)? It's more of the same meandering mess of the original magnum opus, with a sort of prologue to the epic Lara-Su Chronicles confirming that the timeline has indeed changed, followed by a preview chapter of the proper first volume (that may or may not happen), which is mostly a confusing mess about Lara-Su being sad that Legally Distinct Knuckles is probably dead (except most likely not; really the only question is whether they accidentally think he's dead, or whether he faked his death like his family is wont to do for some reason).

Really, he's starting to resemble what would happen if Linkara actually made comics for real. Dude's been wasting years of his life half-assedly tinkering on this grand storyline he's obsessed with telling, and yet the end result is just an amateurish, self-indulgent mess appealing to no one except its creator.

And as an extra fuck you, he changed various names that will likely confuse even true-and-honest fans if they haven't been following his ramblings on social media.

Then again time travel exists, so he might team up with Lara-Su in like 30 years.
