The problem with running on abortion is even a plurality of red states are codifying the laws present under Roe v. Wade. Only the truly right wing states will be the holdouts by the end of the decade. It'll turn into the new medical marijuana inevitably.

Much like the Public Option, Roe should've been codified when Obama had his supermajority, but that would've hurt fundraising - so the donors didn't like that idea.

Regardless, persistence on that issue via various statewide ballot measures will win out, in my opinion.
