I'm at work now and I won't be able to finish the video until later tonight, but I'm about 40 minutes in and I like it.

Mike and Rich are clearly my age. Gen Xers. We remember (and miss) a time when EVERYTHING wasn't political and the idea of Star Wars being a culture war lightning rod was absurd.

But you can't make a video complaining about that. It's too "old man yells at cloud" and it's not an interesting topic in any case.

We're also adults with lives and we don't feel anger about shitty new Star Wars. It can be fun to joke about. I do it often in the Star Wars thread here, but I'm not seething. I don't care that much. I had sex last night.

So I relate to their approach of taking an "anthropolical" (Mike's word) look at what's happening with Star Wars. I relate to it far more than I relate to the 150 other YouTubers peddling rage for views.

Let's pretend that RLM would have made the same exact video, if the showrunners of The Acolyte were notorious right-wingers.
Let's pretend they would have not autistically nitpicked every wrong detail about the show instead.
Let's pretend they would have not spent 30-40 minutes of screen time calling the showrunners and their fans racists and misogynists instead.
Let's pretend that.

And let's also believe that the anti-woke crowd on Youtube is genuinely angry about pop culture trash, and that's not a leftist strawman/misrepresentation of an act that leftists' darlings like James Rolfe and Angry Joe have been peddling to the Internet for a decade or so.

There is no difference between RLM and Doomcock; they all say and do what they think will bring views to their channels.
Doomcock & Co. know their audience is right-winged/anti-woke, so they will ramble about Bob Iger and his goons biting the curb aaaaany day now and how everything about their shows and movies is tied to misandry and antiwhite racism.
RLM knows their audience is left-winged/far left, so they won't give the show the Phantom Menace treatment it deserves because their audience may turn on them, generating less views.
The fact that you seem to believe that not-review is genuine is baffling.

I think I hate 90% of Star Wars.

90? The franchise had two good movies and an all right Saturday morning cartoon.

Nigger, I lived in New Mexico for two years almost a decade ago - that’s where I picked it up.

Look - I don’t think this shows a secret masterpiece - it irritates me that people who don’t like it can’t just say “it looks like a CW show/production values got topped by DS9” or make fun of the hacky dialogue or even just “I didn’t give a shit after episode 1” - it’s always some made up controversy that has a completely benign explanation in context.

Take the pronoun shit - when they go after the evil twin sister - our crew takes a Babu Frik looking motherfucker with them and our protagonist thinks he’s a weird little freak so she says - “is he, or they, with us?” Because she thinks the thing is ugly and doesn’t know what the fuck it is. Why she’s surprised by a weird little freak in Star Wars is another question - but that wasn’t the critique.

Also have you heard of RLM before today? They haven't been kind to Disney Star Wars at all. Most of it they either didn't like or ignored.

Andor and Mando Season 1 are the only truly positive reviews. I suppose Rich Evans liked Solo - but that's as far as you can stretch it. Their review of Acolyte is about on par with their Kenobi stance.

Never watched them outside of clips.
When i learned about them for the first time i was done with Doge Walker and his imitations, and their show looked like more of the same shit.
I was particularly turned off by the takes of that bald mouth-breather they keep around (Jack Packard i believe he's called?), and by a specific clip in which they were all oh so smug about their audience expecting them to trash The Last Jedi, and them liking it instead.
The impression they gave me is being stereotypical modern leftists who overestimate their own intelligence and knowledge, and i wasn't too far off.
I used to like YMS, and then he became like that too.

In the clip i watched, goatee man was all lol, i don't understand at all why people expect us to hate modern Star Wars!
Either changing their mind completely during a review is part of their gimmick, or their idea of "hate" is "political fence-sitting unless it's a safe target like Lady Ballers".

It seems stupid to be dedicated to "apolitical" analysis when the actors and executives in charge of these shows are open about them being a political statement. This isn't all just right-wing incels over reacting to a woman X-Wing pilot or something, the industry itself plays into this.
