I think Spoony wanted to play grown-up with his own house and "wife" just to spite his doubting parents.
To abandon the house or his relationship would almost certainly mean him conceding defeat and having to beg his parents to take him back. He's going to put that off as long as he can.

I'd say he's more playing grown up to prove to himself he isn't a loser. I highly doubt he cares what his parents think, he probably doesn't care what anyone else thinks about him, or else he'd put more effort into his appearance before he goes on camera. Everything around him has turned to shit and he knows it's his own fault. He loses April and the house, he can't pretend he's a normal, adjusted person, just another loser who threw away every chance he had. If you gave him another, he'd probably throw that away too.

Take him back to early 2010, maybe January, when Blip was giving out its biggest CPMs, interest in internet reviewers was at its peak and he was still with Scarlet. Would he try to capitalise on his knowledge of the future to try and make something that would survive YT ad strikes? Probably not. Would he keep up his reviews while at the best possible moment? Unlikely. Would he try to be a better boyfriend so that Scarlet doesn't leave him this time? I seriously doubt that.
