Yuri anime stuff with Evangelion/GitS sprinkled all over it kinda killed the mood for me but it's probably a plus for people like Voice.

I dunno, man. The flaws you mentioned remind me of why I don't actually play a whole lot of survival horrors. A lot of them seem to be yank and obtuse for no other reason than to piss you off.
Plus I've already played Silent Hill 3, so I'm probably good.

It definitely killed the mood for me. Too much weebshittery for a survival horror game. I recommend as an alternative Lone Survivor or Darkwood.

Speaking of based: Bromancing Saga Minstrel Song subverted my expectations in the most pleasant of ways.
So there's this quest where an deliciously tanned waifu asks you to find 3 nymph statues for her.
Great, I think. A fetch quests with absolutely no hints where to find anything. It'll probably take me the majority of the game to randomly bump into this shit.
To make this even more annoying, the quest waifu isn't your ordinary passive quest giver. Oh no, she makes sure to remind you of the quest any chance she gets - and she gets a lot of chances. You see, as long as the quest is ongoing she will spawn in every port town, approaching you if you come too close to repeat her haunting mantra of "Have you found any nymph statues?".

Then it turns out all I had to do was to visit some town I haven't visited before, start some seemingly unrelated quest which then turns out to be a spinoff of the nymph quest. It all boiled down to 2 mandatory fights and a but of dungeon crawling (and I have so many stealth and escape resources that nothing can attack me without my consent).

And to top it all off this quest ended the way every good quest should: With a random NPC flinging herself off of a cliff in the same cutscene she was introduced.
