Re: What are you playing?
I kept playing SMT 5, and it turned out to be another Nu-sona gayme.
The dialogues are fine, i haven't seen the animu cliques of 4 and Apocalypse so far, but the plot reaches Nomurian levels of retardation:
At some point AngelMan (that's what the protagonist is) finds an Amala Terminal from Nocturne, and uses it to return to regular Tokyo.
He discovers that, despite the fact that Lucifer managed to kill YHVH and destroy Tokyo (and only Tokyo, apparently), somehow a miracle from YHVH recreated the city and its people, without the rest of the world noticing.
Are you shitting me?
But now the evil demons Shadows Heartless are going to invade the new Tokyo too (oh no!), so it's up to AngelMan to revert back to his form of power bottom in high school, and solve occult mysteries with his wacky gang of animu faggots.
Unless later on these characters die a horrible death and/or turn into monsters by fusion to survive and/or Tokyo is destroyed again, there is no point in calling this game Shin Megami Tensei at all.
Just call it Persona 6: Slightly edgy Edition.
And i doubt that any of the aforementioned events will happen, considering that the next step is looking into a gurl who is bullied by her classmates, and may make a pact with a demon (double oh no!).
But at least the ruins of Tokyo in the Netherworld look like Nocturne, so it's fine right?
But at least one character looks like an evil version of Raidou Kuzunoha, so it's fine right?
But at least the school is kinda similar to the one in If..., so it's fine right?
But at least the Order headquarters are similar to the ones in SMT 2, and the students have the Demon summoning Program, so it's fine right?
No, it's not.
Nu-sona made more money, so now everything that Faglus shits out must be more Nu-sona.
I guess i should consider myself lucky that Strange Journey turned out the way it did.

Re: What are you playing?
This must be the biggest bait-and-switch they pulled since that "Fire Emblem vs Shin Megami Tensei" that got turned into this Tokoy Mirage Session thing.
And remember when your life as a school student in Nocturne lasted all but the first 20 minutes or so of the game? Good times.

I'm surprised Tokyo Movie Shinsha didn't file a lawsuit against Fatlus for that.

Bait and switch is their fetish at this point; i remember the first trailer of Apocalypse showing a wasteland filled with human bones, and a screaming woman being chopped in half by Onis.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 8:00 pmThis must be the biggest bait-and-switch they pulled since that "Fire Emblem vs Shin Megami Tensei" that got turned into this Tokoy Mirage Session thing.
They also have a boner for "i saw the thing and clapped"; in 4 there was the "black samurai" wearing an edgier version of the Demonica (who turns out to be Yuriko from 1), Alice (who was a character in 1) is spammed everywhere every time, and this time they went overboard with the references to previous games - i also forgot to mention that one of the students is the class clown, wears a yellow baseball cap and uses the evoker demon summoning program because he wants to be a hero of justice.

Even less, if you didn't linger about just to listen to the sick city theme:VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 8:00 pmAnd remember when your life as a school student in Nocturne lasted all but the first 20 minutes or so of the game?
But nothing will beat the high school life of the protagonist of 1, which consisted into watching people being killed by demons, his mother eaten alive and replaced by a demon, being framed for murder by demons disguised as cops, being imprisoned in a hospital to be experimented on, and watching Tokyo being nuked by angels disguised as American military.
I'm not just stupid, i'm "i will continue to play just to see if the story improves spoilers: It won't" levels of stupid.

Re: What are you playing?
Castlevania. First time I'm playing it and it's surprisingly responsive and genuinely nice to control.
The difficulty seems fair for now. Secondary weapons are a bit slow to deploy, however.
I'm currently at the level with the two mummy fucks and don't reach the room with enough HP for a fight. But after a few tries I'm getting through the first few screens without taking a hit.
Seems like it's mostly about learning the level and then working on execution.

Castlevania will always look very cool and fair until you get the damn medusas on platform jumping.

Yep. It's shit.Complicity wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 7:51 pmI kept playing SMT 5, and it turned out to be another Nu-sona gayme.
SMT is dead now. Atlus' idea of SMT is to take Pissona and edgetard it up slightly while inserting more tokusatsu bullshit. They ruined Soul Hackers too.
In Good Game news, however, I've been playing Romancing Saga Minstrel Song Remastered and it's great. SaGa games are actually fun, unlike modern games. The Remaster is top quality too. They added 4 new characters, a ton of quality of life features, an ER clock so you can always check your rank, 2x and 3x turbo and the game runs perfectly.
Somebody at Square really loves SaGa. The SaGa ports have all universally been better than the actual FF ports.

You talking about Classicvania or Metroidvania (or Modernvania)?Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 12:01 amCastlevania. First time I'm playing it and it's surprisingly responsive and genuinely nice to control.

Re: What are you playing?
From the description I assume it's the NES one.
Meanwhile, before those Pixel remasters for FF they thought they could get away with shoddy ports of shoddy handheld/mobile ports.
Heck, the Steam version of Chrono Trigger might still be a shoddy port of a mobile port.
But hey, why even give a fuck with your flagship titles? As FFVIIR shows their fans will clap like seals even if the game is incomplete.
It's amazing looking at the love and care they put into these ports.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 8:44 amSomebody at Square really loves SaGa. The SaGa ports have all universally been better than the actual FF ports.![]()
