The only reason why south park, spongebob, and the simpsons were able to last that long as they have is because those shows entered the the pop culture upper escelon top tier(a tier that literally only star wars, marvel, pokemon or batman could possibly claim to be bigger. Stuff like family guy, rugrats, or zelda reside in the tier below it) that literally cancelling them would ceate such a dent in thier scedule that it could potentially create a ratings black hole as they dont have anything currently running that could possibly fill the void(like how spongebob was able to replace rugrats after the later showed signs of declining popularity). If theres one thing cartoon network did better, its that they didn't let thier ips(teen titans go doesn't count as its an offshoot of the batman ip rather then a cn studios creation) get this monstrously big to the point where its detrimental to other shows and usually knew when to end it. if catdog or some other middle of the totem pole show were to premiere today it would be lucky to have lasted a year before being sent to the nicktoons network graveyard.

That's the entire last decade of Nicktoons, or really even the late 2000's Nicktoons being left for dead. It's hard to remember Nicktoons from the former era and even if you do, it's something negative.

Even the Loud House suffered since it went the same direction as Rick and Morty where it's hyped and went to shit soon after before the show really got on its feet for some reason, like TLH and Chris Savino being fired for sexual assault or R&M adding women writers, but because of the hype and the money rolling in, it's here to stay.

I would say the market is way more saturated since the halcyon days of the first seasons of the Simpsons and South Park. You can't really get as famous as these older shows anymore. In fact it's hard to get noticed as a new cartoon in Current Year unless you're based on an existing IP, are offending the Left or trying to suck up to the Left.
