I got the English dub so I could watch it with Mustafa, my wife's boyfriend. I think he doesn't speak German. Probably no English either but, well, y'know. Gotta start somewhere.

This rant is mostly coming from Super Robot Wars 30, but who cares, I'm mostly ranting about an animu.

I dunno why this opening has such a dark and ominous song when the protagonists consists of:

• an idiot who can't draw manga
• a blank of wood who gets the shits
• a more female blank of wood with a sugar addiction
• a loser with stupid catboy hair who can only think about the ladies
• a stupid oppai girl who can only think about boys
• an androgynous psychopath with a literal tsundere personality disorder

Plus the mecha designs are all over the place. That overdesigned red main character mecha doens't even look like it belongs in the same series as that stupid sniper mecha whose head can slide to one shoulder because it's like a scope or something.
I mean, that thing has like a gun for an arm, and then this red bloke has a transformable chainsaw smg assault rifle and a super mode.

The aliens also annoy the fuck out of me. The grunts are mysterious because they don't talk, but then the main bad guys are these magical girl reject villains who use made-up proper nouns to obfuscate what they're talking about (which gives me World of Dorkness flashbacks). At least when Kamen Rider Kuuga did that they came up with an entire cipher.

Now Heavy Metal L-Gaim on the other hand... I've already heard the name before, but I never knew it was basically Gundam with an actually cool pilot and a fairy waifu as a co-pilot. Plus a bitchin' theme.
