Klessik D&D psionics is trash. A fucking dumpster fire. You have to juggle with multiple broken and inane rules and sub-systems for the honor of being a shittier wizard - who becomes even shittier when enemy psions are present (because you generally have to beat them using the obtuse, broken and retarded mental combat rules before you can do anything with your powers; this generally means you can't really use stealthy mind powers since those enemy psions will notice this shit).

To my knowledge there is no D&D retroclone that retains psionics, even the retroclones of 1st edition AD&D (where psionics was included in the core book, if segregated to its own chapter afaik).
Sure, there might be third-party supplements that have psionics rules for your favorite flavor of Basic or Advanced D&D, put people generally don't want that shit in their main book.

Ironically 4th Edition did psionics better, where they are just ways to empower certain attack and utility powers, so there are no special rule shenanigans to deal with them (except psionic hybrid classes, that was a mess). And then there were monks, who despite being classified as a Psionic class, didn't really use the psionic power points in any way.

Really the less retarded iterations are just spell equivalents with an extra rule or two. Early attempts failed because the TSR writers felt that they had to do it differently for the sake of doing it differently.
And I guess the Monk ended up as a pionic class because every 4e class needed a vague "power source" and "Martial" was apparently not mystical enough.
