What are you playing?

Talk about the life consuming, celibacy inducing hobby that is all the rage these days.

Max is really good in this game. Both his power slide and his heavy attack hit and bounce up enemies on the ground. That makes it pretty easy to re-start a juggle.
Imo Saint Floyd is the best character, he's the same as Max but his reach is insane thanks to his Marzgurlian arms.
If i'm not wrong he's also the only character who can grab 2 enemies at the same time and smash their heads together.
Both him and Max are op because their movement speed isn't really slower than the supposedly more agile characters'.

Pretty well. I have just unlocked all alternative moves for Max, two of which are pretty much considered superior to the regular ones.
It's the same for Shiva; his basic version of the Grand-Uppah is a vertical kick which leaves him exposed, while the alternative is a horizontal flying kick that allows him to move from one end of the screen to the other very quickly.
He also has a 3 hit combo in midair, but can't use weapons, only throw them.

Like I said, they expanded the movesets and added shortcuts in 4, along with the ability to play as every enemy and boss in the game with their own movesets.
I ignored the game back in the day because of lack of interest and because the Gaming Rapist said that it was a cash grab, and who am i to question the authority of a Soystation 4 cum guzzler who loves Failout 4 but doesn't play Survival mode (the only source of any semblance of fun to be found in that snore fest) because it's too hard for him.
And then he said that SoR 4 is a cash grab too, so fuck him, i'm going to play DD4 soon.

A very exclusive opinion, stronzo.
Floyd doesn't even remotely have the juggles Max has.
Floyd needs to use special moves for a halfway decent combo, Max doesn't. Floyd has no OTG moves that don't cost health, Max has two.

Reach doesn't even matter when Max can carry everyone but heavies to the wall from mid-screen and roll into a grab for the same distance Floyd's special grab reaches.
Difference is, Max can also use the move for evasion, Floyd can't.

I like both, but Max is clearly superior.

I haven't played Max much because it wasn't possible in the Vanilla version (the one that i played the most), so i can't really question that.

Edit: how is streets of rage 4 going?

The wall bounce mechanic is a big change to previous titles but feels like it's always been there. It just makes sense.

I'm still not any good at the game but it's a lot of fun. Making a long, hard-hitting combo stick on a boss feels great. Doing the same to a weak enemy that's already dead, just to rack up the combo counter and because you haven't beaten the guy enough yet feels even better.
I was going to ask what character you were using. I decided since I was on a beat em up kick, I might as well try SoR 4 too. So far, it seems like a slightly improved SoR 2. Or maybe slightly worse, depending on who you ask? It's a fun game. I'm just credit feeding through story mode as Axel. I'll probably end up using Adam once I finish story mode though. I wanted to beat every level as Axel first.

Edit: Finished story mode and then got a 1cc on Arcade Normal with Adam. Adam is a monster compared to Axel imo. Axel deals a lot of damage but lacks mobility. Adam has more mobility and defensive tools but just as much damage. I thought I might one-life clear arcade mode, but the train boss put those dreams to bed real fast.

Trying out some Ender Lolis - or as a game journo would say: Dark Souls meets Metroidvania.
This is by no means the first game to make this combination - Blasphemous and at least one Momodora game come to mind - but I find it especially shameless here. Almost all of your special attacks are Dark Souls spells (aka have limited use), and the setting and enemies are so similar that it may as well be a 2D spinoff.

What sets it above other Soulsvania attempts is that the developers took cues from Nippon Ichi's small series of puzzle platformers where you have to guide a petite, defenseless loli through a grimdark world of grim darkness (like Hotaru no Nikki and A Rose in the Twilight). You don't even attack yourself. Even your "Main Skills" (weapons, basically) just summon a guardian who attacks for you, which is probably a very deep metaphor about how the player is in charge of protecting the protagonist.

Oh, and what a protagonist it is. With all these hack studios drowning the market with obnoxious "strong" women that are nothing more but barely-altered male character models, it feels good to have a delicate little lady who, just like in those Nippon Ichi titles, is only ever sad and/or afraid :3

Being able to recruit bosses to fight for you is a cool concept, but the very first boss is already cheating a little, since she has both a waifu phase and a giant fuckoff monster phase. Guess which one you keep?
Dunno how hard the game's gonna get, but the counter move I've stumbled upon is like one of the most lenient ones I've ever seen in a Souls clone. Really its only downside is its limited number of uses and the cooldown.
And dependign on how much they've copied from those Nippon Ichi games, I can already tell that the loli's gonna die at the end, and that first other dead loli I've found was probably not the last.

Also you've gotta love any game where your character's dodge move is literally this:

(Minus the literal song and dance, unfortunately)
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Thinking of playing Final Fantasy VII again. The whole plot point of Shinra going around injecting people with Jenova cells before they even knew what Jenova was is oddly similar to certain....current events

He is talking about this, and it is bretty good especially if you liked Hollow Knight:

Metroidvania with Vanillaware art style, starring albino loli who uses defeated bosses and mid-bosses as attacks like Dracula boy in Aria of Sorrow.
Souls-like setting (everyone but her is either dead or turned into a monster by the rain), pace as fast as Hollow Knight, combat very dodge and parry oriented.

Thinking of playing Final Fantasy VII again.
Speaking of, i recently torrented more than 90 fucking Gb to see how that remake was.
While it's not as bad as i was expecting, it's for the most part FF13 with better combat.
It looks like a PS4 game even on max settings, i haven't experienced the frame rate issues that every Jewtuber like YawnYea is bitching about as long as i kept the shadows' resolution to low (no difference with high).

So far, and very likely until the end, i went through the hallways of 13, and the rings with alleyways of 13-2.
The cancerous "Crystarium" or whatever it was called is back, but it's associated with the weapons 'development rather than the characters' to pretend there's a difference.
Some sections clearly try to imitate the Yakuza games, with sub-quests and some free roaming, but the locations are small and the quests are few.
The new SOLDIER boss is a blatant attempt at recreating Goro Majima, always going after Craudo-chan for another fight.

The changes to the story are the typical retardation you would expect from Nomura, with Donald J. Shinra blowing his own reactor to make himself look good (and change history) because the hack had to introduce his "Time Custodians" as quickly as possible and jerk off.
Same thing for Sephiroth, who is introduced after Craudo-kun is separated from Barretto-san (if you think i'm joking, that's how the jap VAs pronounce their names without fail, and the Eng dub is Team Fag Star level of shit) after the first reactor blows.
Sack is still alive and it is heavily implied that he will be a playable character going after Flower Gurl in part 2.
I bet that Flower Gurl, Wedge & Co. will survive.

The combat is kinda fun and hack-n-slashy, but way too easy; Craudo-kun has a stance that allows him to counterattack without even having to parry, all you have to do is keeping the block button pressed.

Overall, i don't understand why the soyboys who hate FF13 love this at the same time.
Is it because muh nostalgia? Maybe.
Is it because Nu-Midgar is full of niggers? Maybe.
Is it because bugmen will love and hate whatever their Boss loves and hates? Yes.

It's the Mako that gave you blue eyes.
