I thought it was full of lame romance novels.

Didn't you have to read his comment in order to make that claim?

Maybe you in Germany are different but in the English speaking countries we don't really do serialised fiction any more. The exception is the American comic books and British comic magazines like 2000AD and Judge Dredd magazine and those are dying. There isn't really a platform for a Theodore Sturgeon to come along and write short stories or serialised novels for cheap trash magazines

Oh, we still have serialised stuff, mostly from cult classics that refuse to die (though none of them are big enough that normies have really heard about them).
John Sinclair (started in 1973) is supernatural detective pulp. Got at least one comic adaptation with naked vampire waifus and a made-for-TV movie featuring a grim reaper rendered in the finest PS1 graphics (makes you wonder why they didn't just buy a robe and skelly mask).
Perry Rhodan (started in 1961) is the king of space opera pulp, and one of the longest-running pieces of fiction out there. Got a movie in 1967 so terrible that people tried their best to forget it ever happened, and another movie attempt is unlikely since space opera is expensive and German studios are stingy.
The most recent English distribution is handled by a Light Novel publisher, for some reason.
There's also a fair bit of kid detective stuff, but I honestly can't tell which of those are actually of German origin. I mean, there's TKKG, but that's mostly audio drama.
