Alternately, you pay thousands of dollars to ruin the dog's quality of life with surgery and cancer treatments and it still dies in a couple years. Because it's a fucking old dog.

I think lumps can happen in dogs even early in their life. They may shorten the lifespan of the dog but I dont think it affects them until they are old. Sometimes attempting to get rid of the lumps could endanger the dogs life so unless its so life threatening that the dog could die in a couple months, it might just be best to leave it alone.
