Free verse is fine if it a) isn't cringe, b) is well-written and c) has some kind of fucking point. AKA some reason why it was written in free verse rather than another style.

Paradise Lost is free verse IIRC. Works fine there. But Milton had a general idea what he was doing. Warthog violates all of my three key points.

One of my major breaking points with the online atheist community (years ago) was over its treatment of its own sacred cows and sacred subjects. I identified many lolcows at the time who were being treated as messianic figures by atheist groups. Nowadays, there are few who would disagree that they are lolcows, however.

It isn't just people, either. Look how fervently devoted wokefuckers get about the woke sociopolitical causes they champion. For as much shit as religious people get, I'm getting to the point that I can't help but think they might actually be on to something with the "God-shaped hole" angle. Whether it's a supernatural mythology or whatever else, a lot of people seem to have an inherent need to wholly devote themselves to something.
