Xbox 360 got dominated by the fucking Wii early on in its life, to the point that Microsoft put out their late-to-the-party totally not a Wii rip-off Kinect to try (and fail) to capture that market. Then, when the Wii fad died, it got dominated by the PS3 which had damn near the same games, became significantly less expensive due to the Slim model and wasn't a broken piece of shit, like the 360.

The 360 did well initially for the same reason the Dreamcast did well initially - it was first to the party
