DS was never this difficult game faggots make it out to be. It's just punishing to get hit and you are committed to moves once you start them.
There are very clear correct timings to everything, though. It heavily rewards pattern recognition, like MonHun. Unlike it you can just get overleveled and brute force through it.

It's brilliant marketing, though. Sell something as hardcore and difficult and the drooling retards called gaymers will lap that shit up like it's ambrosia.

Good marketing will take any crap and sell it to retards. Take Bethesda for example - their radiant AI bullshit was a thing that competent developers could do 15 years before Turd Howard crawled out of his hole to sell the tale, I mean, tell the tale. Also, I was amused how in Fallout 4 they tried to sell it as a big deal that the AI would call you your name - Stronghold did that in 2001, just as a thing, because the developers thought it was a cool idea - although they didn't say "miss fucker, or mister titties", it's good to see some innovation at least.

If you take out most of the dialogue by making all your answers lead to the same result, it's easy to record a couple of names instead and still save on voice acting.

They don't even do that - it's not added to actual conversations, the robot just calls you your name as greetings. They do have few thousands of variations, so there is that, but yeah, it's just a greetings.

I think these You Don't Know Jack games also had a couple names that were voiced out. Always fun when playing someone who had one of these names.

So do they have to phrase every conversation in such a way that your name never comes up during it?

Now back in my day, dialogue was text-only, so there was no issue whatsoever of including the name you have chosen as often as they want.

It's just old-school game design, which is apparently all it takes to blow the minds of soyboys only familiar with games where your health keeps regenerating and the fights are so scripted that you can't actually die.

They have been coddled and pandered to for too long in all walks of life with participation trophies. A game that doesn't immediately roll over and let you win is alien to them.

I grew up with Turrican, Dungeon Master and Giana Sisters. Failure wasn't just an option, it was the norm. It builds character and teaches you to not take a game too seriously. Same reason I like pinball and roguelikes, games you can't "win" or leave you with a clear state. Things you set your own goals in. Prevents fan faggotry for a lack of label to apply to yourself and turn into a fandumb lifestyle.

Great Giana Sisters was definitely superior to Gay Mario even though it kinda ripped off the first stage, but maybe I'm biased because SOUNDMAGIER Hülsbeck worked some majical soundtrack.
Now I wonder if Film Blobbert could be triggered by introducing the idea that this "franchise" was superior.
