"It is doubtful that a child aged 14 or 15 could understand and weigh the long-term risks and consequences of the administration of puberty blockers."

Even for 16 and 17-year olds the ruling says it may be appropriate to involve the courts in the decision.

This is what I have trouble understanding. If it was two centuries ago, the desire to do "guy things" as a girl or "girly things" as a guy would have been way harder than it is now. So I could sort of see why you would have to try to pretend to be the other sex in order to do that sort of thing. But now? Almost no one really cares past high school if you're a guy into "girly" things or a girl into "guy" things. Just do that. You can inwardly consider yourself the opposite gender but I don't see why you have to not only let everyone else know, but force everyone to accept it.

I guess in this situation it would mean you'd present yourself as gay if you wanted a relationship, but I'm pretty sure it's a lot easier to get into a gay relationship than it is to find someone actually interested in a relationship with you if you're transgender.

I've tried to put myself in the transgender mindset by wondering "okay, what if everyone in the world thought I was a woman even though I'm a guy?" The answer to me would be "well, just go along with it; it's not like my job, hobbies, or interests are in any way limited to men nowadays". The only practical difference would be in relationships, which I'm not really interested in anyway but if I was, it then falls into the above consideration.
