Both ""his name is Aegon Targaryen" and "I am the FBI" at the same week. It's been an epic week of TV indeed.

I'm an unyielding fan of anything Lynch does (even his anomaly The Straight Story), but I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the new Peaks iteration.
I never sold my Daewoo. I kept getting low-balled and said fuck it. I’m going to keep it and watch it soar in value!

If you enjoyed Fire Walk With Me and Inland Empire then you'll enjoy season 3 of Twin Peaks. It's a lot weirder and darker than the old seasons but it's very good.

Was David Bowie kettle this week or last week? I marathoned the latest two so I don't recollect too well.

I dunno if I'd call that a good recommendation. I disliked both of those things but I'm loving this new Twin Peaks season.

It was in episode 15, the latest was 16.
It was nice to see Cooper getting his mind back, though it also put an end to the saga of Dougie Jones, which is a shame, but maybe the last shot of 16 is a glimpse into something different.

Overall though, love how Lynch, Frost and everyone involved had the balls to not only continue the show, but make something different than every sequel/ soft reboot does.

This new Twin Peaks has been closer to Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway than Inland Empire IMO, but it's really a cross-section of all Lynch films, there's a bit of Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart in it also. I would very much recommend it anyone who likes Lynch's style. Lynch keeps his films clean, no Kunta Kintes around, not a flying fuck given to political correctness, women also know their places; there's a scene in new TP where wife makes a sandwitch to her man  Lynch also has Finnish heritage so naturally everything in his films, like David Bowie kettle, makes 100% sense to me.

Also, The Young Turks/What the Flick had issues how Lynch treats women in TP and whenever TYT have their inane sosical justice BS issues with something, you know it's good.

I wouldn't say it was like Mulholland Drive (haven't seen Lost Highway, yet) either. It's weird. It's definitely Lynch at Inland Empire level but it doesn't suffer the same problems as Inland Empire or Fire Walk With Me. My problem with both those films is that they don't really have a solid spine or story structure, so they inevitably veer off into being simply a collection of scenes. Whereas as this has a clear spine. As with Lynch's best works, there's a clear story being told and once he has that solid spine he's free to go off in weird directions.

And yes, it is refreshingly free of political bullshit. I think the worst is Dr Jacobi (Russ Tamblyn) becoming a YouTuber who bitches about corporations, and even that is incredibly old shit that no one could really be offended by.

So you haven't seen one the greatest David Lynch movie, you need to fix that immediately. Mulholland Drive was originally written as a TV pilot and it supposed to become as a series. In many ways this nu-TP feels like what MD supposed to be and I've heard that Lynch has said MD and Twin Peaks exist in the same narrative universe. Inland Empire is way too trippy to be comparable with TP. I do agree however that IE and FWWM are the weaker side of Lynch's oeuvre, still very good movies both.

Dr. Jacoby is somewhat Alex Jones like, but his rants are much more left-leaning and I don't see that as some statement about modern alternative media, Lynch has pretty much always avoided politics in his films.

Where did he say this? I know that Lost Highway is supposed to be in the same universe as Twin Peaks, and that Mulholland Drive was originally going to be a Twin Peaks spin-off with Audrey Horne going to Hollywood. But I don't think I've heard that the final product is related to Twin Peaks, other than sharing a director, a few actors and possibly some thematic similarities common to all his works. I suppose I'll have to check my copy of Lynch on Lynch
