I saw that game and wasn't impressed just based off what was shown. The visual disconnect between story and gameplay was too much for me. Every Vanillaware game looks amazing both in action and in storytelling, except this one. Which looks like utter trash during gameplay. They could have at least used fire emblem sprites (vanillaware'd up) instead of 3d.

Vanillaware and isometric perspective clearly doesn't go well. Should've done something like Assault Suits Valken.

Go play Disgaea 5 and Fight'N'Rage.

Disgaea is more of a grind simulator. I say that as someone who played disgaea 2 and 4 to death, especially 2.

Then, my friend, you need to play Hyperdevotion Noire. It is the most controversial of all Neptunia spinoffs (because it features a male player-insert).

Or pick SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays, that's okay, too.

3d Platformers: Dead

Mario Odyssey, A Hat in Time, Spyro remakes, upcoming Crash Bandicoot 4, upcoming Faggot and Clank.
If anything, the genre is slowly making a comeback.

An underrated one, Kao the Kangaroo, is getting a reboot releasing next year and plus one of the games were remastered and it's a pretty solid platformer. It's two bucks but there were some points where the game was either free or 99 cents. So you gotta keep an eye out for it.

Super Metroid. I don't remember Kraid being such a pushover. Missile to the face, super missile in the mouth, repeat four times and he's dead. That felt downright abusive.

Nintendo bosses aren't really Dork Souls material most of the time. Have you figured out the one obvious way to hurt the boss without getting hurt in return? Good, now repeat that about 4 times.

I think the hardest bosses there for me are the smaller fuckers that dart all of the screen. Mostly static dudes are more predictable.
